about Julie BoucheraT

From a very young age, Julie Boucherat developed a deep connection with materials. Introduced to modeling by her mother, she grew up surrounded by clay under the southern sun, developing a sensitive and profoundly personal style. In Paris, she became editor-in-chief of leading publications (MilK, MilK Decoration) and designed scenography for fashion and interior design, refining her eye for form, volume, and the subtle interplay between objects.

After the birth of her daughter, she returned to the land, leaving the capital for the Basque Country. There, in the heart of a lush, traditional landscape, her work took root and became more refined, each piece becoming an echo of a landscape, a memory, an emotion. Guided by curves and rounded forms, Julie creates stoneware pieces with raw lines and rich textures, inspired by past, present, and future flora and fauna.

Julie develops her own glazes and experiments with different firing methods, notably with wood in an Anagama kiln. A self-taught artist, she enriches her solitary experiments through exchanges and encounters with master ceramicists, from whom she refines her technique and craft. Her free and poetic approach finds its full expression in immersive solo exhibitions, where she creates sensory and scenographic worlds, blending art and emotion.

In parallel, she founded MANO MANI, a domestic arts laboratory, where she offers functional ceramics and unique, sensitive, and accessible objects, reflecting her artistic vision and her exacting standards of craftsmanship.
