Both a designer and a craftsman — as well as a trained graphic designer — Paris-based Jonathan Cohen works with wood in a sculptural and graphic language. Pieces of character, with clever plays of proportions, incorporating influences from both the Art Deco and Memphis movements.
Having worked as a graphic designer in Paris for 8 years before training in cabinetmaking and founding his own design studio, his work frequently features patterns that are stamp-dyed onto wood. Hand-application brings singularity and irregularity to this printing aesthetic.
