about MARTHE BIANCHI
Marthe Bianchi was introduced to ceramic in 2017 and more particularly to turning in a small studio in Venice, Los Angeles. After two years of experimentation around different clays, she refined her practice and favored smooth earthenware.
Lulled by her Italian roots, inspired by the unconventional volumes of the Memphis movement and nourished by the artistic imprint left by her grandfathers, painter and architect, she offers variations of undulating forms, round and graphic through decorative and colorful objects such as vases, lamps and sculptures.
Back in France, it was in Marseille that Marthe, a stylist by training, put down her suitcases and set up her small studio. In parallel to her professional activity, this place of creation and expression, offers her the freedom to undertake and invent around the material.
Her technique is perfected. She then explores the possibilities of assembling her favorite forms by changing scale through a more architectural and monumental work. Like a pearl necklace, each unit is superimposed and dialogue along a thread to form clean sculptural lines. Each of her ceramic modules are handmade. Then, guided by her intuition, they are assembled one by one. A long process that gives its pieces a unique dimension.
In 2021 she began her collaboration with Julie Pailhas for the gallery Objets Inanimés. She offers specific works, to be found exclusively in this unique place.
New experiments around clay, glass and light are underway and will soon see the light.
